The district has a telephone helpline available from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m. Monday through Friday. Assistance is available in English, Spanish and Mixtecto. You can get help, ask questions and find information regarding student technology, enrollment, completing important paperwork, accessing Google Classroom, setting up Aeries Parent Portal accounts and other topics.

The sign at the new school was installed the last week of July. The work on the campus is moving quickly so that staff members can work from the school (with required protections) to support students and parents and provide distance teaching and other necessary services.  

This English video  Spanish Video  will show how to enter your Chromebook, how to enter the Clever program, and an introduction to Google Classroom. It is made for SMBSD students and other districts that use something similar during this epidemic. (Spanish version available in channel)

On July 17, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that schools within counties that are on the state's COVID-19 monitoring list for more than 14 days must begin the school year with distance learning for students. Santa Barbara County has been on the state's COVID-19 monitoring list for more than 14 days. SMBSD schools, and all schools in Santa Barbara County, will begin the new school year with students learning from home (distance, on-line), NOT in-person on school campuses.  We will provide more information to parents as soon as we can. The first day of school is August 13. The SMBSD School Board will take formal action at its meeting on Wednesday, July 22, regarding the remote-teaching and learning start of the 2020-2021 school year.  

In addition to meals for children age 18 and younger being provided at El Camino JH, Fairlawn, Miller, Rice and Sanchez schools, the SB County Food Bank is also offering meals for children. Please see the flyer for details.
